Orlando City played in the MLS from 2010-2014, and was announced as the twenty-first franchise in 2013. Their first game was played in March 2015, and has been growing exponentially ever since.
Before getting their own stadium, the Lions played at the then-named Citrus bowl. Recently, however, their stadium has opened– and with it, the team has reached out its arms into the community by selecting 49 rainbow in Section 12 as a reminder of the shooting on an LGBTQ nightclub on June 12, 2016. Each seat is labeled with #OrlandoUnited, a community hashtag to build unity and compassion in Orlando.
Orlando City currently boasts a four game winning streak, is ranked first in the league with six wins, and is ranked number one in the Eastern Conference standings. Orlando is currently ranked second in the MLS (behind Dallas).
